国の伝統的工芸品、東京都の伝統工芸品に指定された江戸切子。1834年、江戸大伝馬町のびいとろ屋・加賀谷九兵衛がガラスの表面に彫刻したのが始まりといわれています。カットは深く、仕上がりがはっきりとして華やか。和の紋様の中でもスタンダードな柄を揃えています。脈々と受け継がれてきた繊細な職人技が冴える逸品です。
竹かごの網目のことを「籠目」と呼び、その網目のイメージから生まれた文様です。六角籠目の文様は伊勢神宮の灯籠にも刻まれ、古くから魔除けのシンボルとして親しまれています。その形が六芒星にも見えることから、縁起の良い文様として、節目の記念品や贈答品にもおすすめです。
